Active Systems showcases laptop‑free live set with Cirklon and modular gear

The act’s recent shows at Lost and Houghton and the new Red EP highlight a hardware‑centric performance that may interest club‑focused producers.

Active Systems has been performing without a laptop, centering their live rigs around a Cirklon sequencer, four Intellijel Atlantix modules handling bass duties, and a classic 909 drum machine for timing. The setup was discussed in a recent interview that also touched on pattern‑based playing, backup configurations, and moments of forced improvisation.

The duo’s recent appearances at Lost and Houghton followed the release of The Red EP, and they reflected on earlier workflows that involved a pair of Minilogues, a DrumBrute Impact, a TD‑3, and occasional Logic‑based production before adopting the Cirklon as their main sequencer.

As first reported by Attack Magazine, the transition to a fully hardware rig was described as arriving at the right moment, allowing a different decision‑making process compared with their previous, more tangled CV‑synced setup.
